About Fondalicious

What started in 2015 as a way to make some extra travel money has become an addiction!

Fondalicious is a drop-in dance/aerobics class set to 80s tunes, based in Newcastle NSW. Run by party leader Emma Levine, the one hour classes are silly, imperfect, sometimes sexy and a whole lotta fun.

There’s been many iterations of the class over the years, but as of 2023 it’s monthly and held at The Station (the old Newcastle train station near Customs House). We’re trying to keep the cost low and accessible ($10) because we want everyone to experience the sweaty joy of a grapevine combo.

There are also a troupe of Fondas who are available for hire for corporate events, private backyard workouts, hen dos and everything in between.

FAQs

  • Yes! Absolutely, come along and give it as much or as little as you want. The beauty with Fondalicious is that you can try get every movement perfect, or you can just bounce around to the music. Either way you’re an 80s fitness god in our eyes!

  • Whatever you damn want! Some people go all out and have a collection of leotards and leg warmers, but lots of people just wear clothes they’re comfortable doing a workout in like tights and baggy t-shirts. There’s no pressure to dress up, we just want you to wear what feels good.
The only thing we recommend is that you wear sneakers/runners on your feet to help support your ankles and knees.

  • Bring a water bottle, yoga mat or towel to lay on (for when we do leg lifts and floor work) and in cooler months, something warm to put on afterwards.

And if you haven’t pre-purchased your spot in the class, bring cash as Emma doesn’t have eftpos facilities.

  • Oh my gawd yes just show up solo! There’s always people on their own and it’s such a fun easy going environment that you’ll be high-fiving strangers in no time.
